LGS Studio is a contemporary ceramics company founded by Thomas Renaud & Noel Hennessy.
As a team, our practice is rooted in the principal of creating thoughtfully designed, bespoke collections within a range of tableware, home decor and sculptural objects. We use wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques to express our vision and draw inspiration from both natural and architectural design elements. Some have said our work is a little brutal and maybe a little Bauhaus too.
Our vision for LGS began in an old garage while living in Portland. Over the last four years, we’ve tested the waters, experimenting with the idea of what a creative “retail” space could be, while expanding our collections. Along the way we rolled up the door, met friends and neighbors from all around the world, showcased and sold goods direct to our clients. We take pride in calling the West Coast home and having outgrown our humble beginnings we are currently located in the vibrant community of Glassell Park in Los Angeles.
We’ve combined our 15+ years of creative experience to focus on what we want to bring to the world as artists and LGS Studio.
It was a single ceramics class in college that planted a seed within Thomas only to come to fruition 15 years later. Those in-between years were spent working in the fast-paced world of marketing and communications in New York City and Los Angeles. But something was missing. Self-taught and driven by his entrepreneurial spirit and desire to fulfill his passion, Thomas left marketing, dedicating himself to developing a ceramics practice.
Noel studied painting, photography and sculpture at The School of The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston before moving to New York in 2001. He was the founder of the ubiquitous St Helen Café. & SAVED gallery of Art and Craft pioneering early Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Since then has worked as an Art director and Prop Stylist for a variety of brands on both the East Coast and the West Coast.
